Srebrenica 2.0: on the places of history. The observation that the urban area of the city of Srebrenica, the main place of local history from 1992 to 1995 – or from the beginning of the war to the genocide – had very few signs and places of memory, gave rise to the need to build a path of digital memory to relocate some key events prior to the genocide in the places where they took place. The project Srebrenica 2.0 of the Srebrenica Memorial Center in cooperation with Arci Bolzano, Arci del Trentino, Arci Firenze, Centro Pace di Cesena, Associazione Buongiorno Bosnia from Venice and Teatro Zappa theater from Merano, has been realized with the support of the Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation.
The path of memory Srebrenica 2.0 develops in nine places of history in Srebrenica: the post office, the war hospital, the school playground, the former police station, the settlement of Petrića, in front of the city department store, the gas station and the former factory Vezionica, the so called “White House” and the gate of the UN base in Potočari. Places that are important milestones to understand the path that has brought to the genocide of July 1995.
